The Qur'ān Al Kareem is a
Message from Allāh Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to humanity. It was
transmitted to us in a chain starting from the Allāh Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala
to the angel Jibrīl
Alahi Wa Salam to
the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam This message
was given to the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam
in pieces over a period spanning approximately 23 years. The Prophet
Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam was 40 years old when the
Qur'ān Al Kareem began to be revealed to him, and he was 63
when the revelation was completed. The exact meaning of the word
'Qur'ān Al Kareem' is the words of Allāh Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala.
The Qur'ān Al Kareem is one leg of two which form the basis
of Al Islām. The second leg is the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad
Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam. What makes the Qur'ān Al Kareem
different from the Sunnah is primarily its form. Unlike the Sunnah,
the Qur'ān Al Kareem
is quite literally the Word of Allāh Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala ,
whereas the Sunnah was inspired by Allāh Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
but the wording and actions are the Prophet's. The Qur'ān Al
Kareem has not been expressed using any human's words. Its
wording is letter for letter fixed by no one but Allāh Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala.
Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam was the final
Messenger of Allāh Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to humanity, and
therefore the Qur'ān Al Kareem is the last Message which
Allāh Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has sent to us. Its predecessors
such as the
Taurāt (Torah), Zaboor
(Psalms), Sahifah (Scrolls)
and
the
Injeel
(Gospels) have all been superseded. It is an obligation - and
blessing - for all who hear of the Qur'ān Al Kareem and Al
Islām to investigate it and evaluate it for themselves. Allāh
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has guaranteed that He will protect the
Qur'ān Al Kareem from human tampering, and today's readers
can find exact copies of it all over the world. The Qur'ān Al
Kareem of today is the same as the Qur'ān Al Kareem
revealed to Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam.
